Detection Test (PCR Saliva)
The method used for virus detection is PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), due to its high sensitivity and specificity in the simultaneous identification of several virus genes.
Laboratory-processed RT-PCR test similar to the conventional RT-PCR test, differing in the collection medium.
Instead of a swab, a funnel is used to collect saliva from throat secretions.
RT-PCR test is always performed by the technician, self-harvest is not allowed.
No prescription required for individuals. Advance booking is mandatory.
The PCR test for SARS2-Covid 19 in saliva is less sensitive than when performed on a nasopharyngeal swab. Its clinical use may therefore be limited. The use of this result should be reviewed in light of DGS Standard 19/2020 on "National Testing Strategy for SARS-CoV-2".

- This test is intended to identify carriers of the virus (sick or asymptomatic) and requires prior appointment.
- Recommended for children, people with nasal septum deviations, intubated patients or individuals who need to be tested regularly.
